I was what I call “fit-fat.” At 47, I was definitely not obese, but I was for sure experiencing the “slowing metabolism.” I was very active and exercised more than most, yet despite all my efforts, I could NOT get the results I wanted. I tried doing more cardio, getting a trainer, and following the latest diet, all for not. Despite all of my effort, my weight never changed and my thighs kept getting larger the harder I tried. Add to that the fact that I was having trouble sleeping, with fluctuating blood pressure, and I was experiencing shoulder, knee, and low-back pain. I felt like I was heading further away from my goals of slimming down, toning my legs, and getting healthy. Additionally, with owning a network of autism therapy centers across Southern California, I was starting to think that the sacrifices it would take for me to look the way I wanted would require more than I was able to give. Before Stark, I was resigned to the fact that I would always look “fit fat,” and I didn’t realize at the time that I just needed a fully-faceted and integrated approach to health and fitness. I was exercising enough for three people, but without addressing nutrition, blood chemistry, and lifestyle factors, such as sleep and stress management. I was just spinning my wheels... literally! Fast forward six months, and I have a different mindset! I sleep through the night. My energy is fantastic. I no longer have chronic joint point. My total cholesterol dropped 20 points into the normal range for the first time in 20 years. My inflammation markers dropped into the normal range. I am no longer pre-diabetic, having controlled glucose levels without medication. I work smarter, not harder – meaning I’m able to spend fewer hours working out. And best of all, I look and feel great! I’ve lost weight, decreased bodyfat, and gone down a size in all my clothes. And I would say I look great in a swimsuit, if not for the fact that I need a new one because the old ones don’t fit! In fact, my own mother-in-law (who hadn’t seen me in two months) even accused me of getting plastic surgery! People use words like “lean” and “toned” to describe my progress. And thanks to the Stark team, I am now just plain “fit.”
